LVD and Electrical Safety

Electrical Safety

The Low Voltage Directive

Applying to most electrical equipment,  the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) states electrical equipment can only be placed on the market if it does not endanger the safety of persons, domestic animals or other equipment and goods. It is mandatory to CE Mark products that fall within the scope of the Low Voltage Directive (unless it is excluded by other Directives).

Low Voltage Directive Requirements

IEC61010 Electrical Safety Testing

IEC61010 (and thus the tests and assessments necessary) are also often required outside of Europe. For North American listing, for example, IEC61010 is commonly applied and you must fully comply with the Standard.
